The My Tracks tab: finding a flight among hundreds, editing what the parser could not know, and fixing a whole season in one go.

Finding a flight#

Flights are shown as cards, newest first, with the year selector at the top. Each card carries the date, the takeoff, the flown and XC distance, the average speed, the duration, and badges for its state.

Four controls narrow the list, and they combine:

Free text across the title, the takeoff and the glider.

Year

One calendar year at a time, or all years.

All gliders

Only flights on one wing. Useful when you want to know what the new wing actually did.

All countries

Only flights that started in one country.

All XC types

Only flights whose best score was open distance, three turnpoints, flat triangle or FAI triangle.

Reading the badges#

Badge	Means
Published	Public. It is in the feed, the rankings and XC scoring.
Unpublished	Private. Only you can see it.
Pending Public	You asked for public, but parsing has not finished. It goes public by itself when it does.
Analyzing	Parsing is running right now.
Failed	Parsing could not read the file. The flight stays private.
Hike and fly	A hike and fly day: one entry, several flights. Duration and distance are the flights only; the badge carries the number of flights.

Note

A flight that failed to parse still holds your original IGC file. Nothing is lost, it simply has no statistics and no map.

Editing a flight#

Edit on a card opens everything the parser could not work out for itself. The IGC file knows where you flew; it does not know what you flew it on.

Title

The name of the flight everywhere on the site. Worth setting for anything memorable. Everything else is easier to find with the filters.

Visibility

Public or private

Whether the flight appears in public feeds, rankings and XC scoring. You can flip it at any time for a flight from the current year.

FAI Class

Paraglider or hang glider

Decides which wing types are offered below, and which ranking the flight competes in. Required. Set it once and the site remembers your preference for the next upload.

Wing / HG Type

The certification class, for example EN-A through EN-D for paragliders. Required. Record boards and league classes are split by it, so a wrong value puts you on the wrong board.

Glider

Brand, model and size, picked from the shared glider database. Start typing and pick from the list. Picking and proposing a glider explains what to do when your wing is not there. If your wing is missing you can propose it right there. The proposal is saved on the flight at once and marked pending until an administrator approves it.

Takeoff

The launch site. Matched automatically, searchable by name if the match was wrong or missing. Fix it if the flight landed in the wrong site hub. It also decides which site and takeoff records you compete for.

Comments

Your own notes about the flight, shown on the public flight page. The story of the day, for the version of you who reads it in five years.

Images

Up to 10

Photos attached to the flight, shown in its gallery. They count against your storage quota, so pick the good ones.

Caution

Flights from a past year are partly locked: Past flights can update glider, FAI class, wing type, takeoff, comments, and images only. Title, visibility, and task link are locked. The same rule stops a past flight being deleted. This is what makes historic rankings stable.

Picking and proposing a glider#

The glider database is shared by every pilot on the site, and one wing should exist in it exactly once. That is what lets the All gliders filter, the record boards and the league classes group flights on the same wing together. The search and the proposal form are built to reuse what is there rather than add another spelling of it.

Type two letters or more in the Glider field and pick from the list. The search forgives what keyboards and brands do to a name: case, spaces and dashes, one or two typos, roman numerals and the usual brand variants. zeno2, Zeno II and ZENO 2 are the same wing, and Gin and GIN Gliders, or Nova and NOVA Performance Paragliders, are the same brand.

It is in the list

Pick it. Brand, model and size are set in one go, and the FAI class and wing type are prefilled from the wing's certification where the database knows it. The normal case. If the list is long, add the size or drop the brand to narrow it.

It is marked pending review

Another pilot proposed this wing and an administrator has not approved it yet. Pick it anyway: your flight uses it immediately, and when the proposal is approved, or merged into an existing entry, your flight follows automatically. The usual case for a brand new model in its first season.

It is really missing

Open Propose a new glider under the field and enter brand, model and size, plus the class and type if you know them. Before anything is created the site checks the database once more: if a close match exists it is listed under the form with Use this on each row. Pick one to use it, or press Create anyway if your wing is genuinely new. Spell the brand the way the brand writes it, and keep the size out of the model name. The size has its own field.

Note

A proposal is saved on your flight at once and shown as pending. An administrator approves it, corrects it, or merges it into the existing entry it duplicates. Whatever happens, your flight keeps pointing at the right wing; there is nothing to redo.

Tip

The site also learns. The glider string your instrument writes into the IGC header is remembered together with the wing you picked, for you at once and for everyone once two pilots agreed on it, so the next upload with the same header gets its glider set without you opening the flight.

Bulk updating a season#

Import a hundred flights and you will not want to set the glider on each one. Bulk update filtered flights applies one change to every flight currently matching your filters.

Filter the list down to exactly the flights you want to change, for example one year on one wing.
Press Bulk update filtered flights. The dialog states how many flights it will touch.
Set the glider. The search is the same as in the edit dialog, pending wings included, and the FAI class and wing type are prefilled from it where possible.
Leave any field on Leave unchanged if you do not want to touch it.
Apply.

Caution

Bulk update only touches glider, FAI class and wing type. It cannot change visibility, and it cannot be undone in one step, so check the flight count in the dialog before you press the button.

Deleting a flight#

Delete removes the flight, its IGC file, its images and its scores. Anything the flight contributed to a challenge, a league or a record board is recomputed without it.

Important

There is no undo and no recycle bin. If a flight is only in the wrong place, editing the takeoff or the visibility solves the problem without losing the track.
