22Finding a competition

The public competition list and everything on a competition page: information, news, weather, tasks, the pilot list and the results.

Open to everyone

The competition list#

Where Competitions

/competitions lists every public competition. It is open to everyone, and a competition only appears here once its organizer has made it public.

A spotlight card at the top features the next competition. Under it, the list can be searched and filtered by country, by status and by date range, and sorted. The scope line tells you what the current combination is showing.

Badge on a card Means
Registration Open You can register right now.
Registration Opens Soon The registration window has not started yet.
Upcoming Registration is closed or not applicable, and the event has not started.
Open The event is running.
Completed The event is over. Results are usually published.
Hosted on An external competition: it is run on another platform and the card links out to it.

The competition page#

Opening a competition gives you its own page with a hero image, the dates, the location and country, and a row of statistics: total registered, confirmed pilots, allowed pilots and countries represented.

Everything else sits behind tabs.

Tab Holds
Information The organizer's description, the rules, the refund policy, payment information, and the operations contacts.
News Event updates, newest first. The place to look the evening before.
Weather The forecast per competition day, where the organizer has enabled it.
Tasks The published tasks of the event, with their maps, turnpoints and waypoints.
Pilots The entry list, grouped and sortable. A table on a wide screen, one card per pilot on a phone or tablet.
Results Task results and the overall standings.
My Registration Your own entry. Signed out, it offers you the log in and create account buttons.

Information and contacts#

The information tab carries the text blocks the organizer wrote: the general information, the rules, the refund policy and the payment information.

Under them sits the operational block, which is the part to save on your phone before you fly:

  • Safety phone number and safety radio frequency.
  • Retrieve phone number and retrieve radio frequency.
  • The info, retrieve and pilot chat groups.
  • Safety notes and retrieve notes.
  • Which channel counts as official communication.

Tip

Only one channel is the official one, and the organizer names it here. Anything decided in a pilot chat group is not a decision until it appears on the official channel.

Tasks, live tracking and analysis#

The tasks tab shows every published task of the event with its map, turnpoint list, waypoints and legs, and links to the full task page, described in Tasks. Each card also carries the task's start (SSS) and its deadline, in local task time, so the day's two key times are readable without opening the task.

If the competition has live tracking enabled, Watch live map opens the competition live view showing the current task and its participants. See Live tracking.

Once a day is scored, Analyze opens the day analysis: every pilot's track over the task, replayable and comparable. See Competition analysis.

Results#

The results tab holds Task Results, Overall Results and, at the end of the event, Final Results. Each result carries a state:

State Means
Provisional Published but still open to change, normally while protests are running.
Official Confirmed. It can still be locked against further change.
Final Results The locked overall result of the finished competition.

Results can be downloaded, and where the organizer scores on the platform the download is generated from the published scoring itself rather than from an uploaded file.

Competitions hosted elsewhere#

Some competitions in the list are run on another platform: Airtribune, Civl Comps, PWCA or something else. They are listed here so that the calendar is complete, and their page carries a Hosted on badge.

On an external competition, registration and results live on the host site. The page shows Register on and Full results on buttons that take you there. Everything else, the dates, the location and the weather, still works here.
