Where XC Records

A record board holds the best flight ever logged in one combination of scope, category and glider class. There are a lot of combinations, which is the point: a record is only meaningful if it is measured against pilots in a comparable situation.

Within each scope, the boards are split by category, meaning the four XC flight types, and by glider class. Switch between them at the top of the page, and search for a takeoff by name to find a local board.

The header of the page carries the summary: records on the board, records set this month, the longest triangle and the biggest FAI triangle currently standing.

Beating a record#

You do not claim a record here. The board updates the moment your flight finishes parsing, exactly like the leagues and the challenges.

  1. Fly it, and publish the flight.
  2. Parsing computes the four scored distances.
  3. Every board the flight qualifies for is checked.
  4. If it beats one, the board updates, the flight is marked with a New record badge, and the XC feed announces it.
  5. You get an email confirming the scope, the category and the value.

Note

A record can also be voided by an administrator, for example if the flight turns out to be invalid. The board is then recomputed and the previous best comes back.

These are not FAI records#

The boards on this page are the site's own records. They are computed from the tracks pilots upload here and they carry no official status.

An official FAI record needs a declaration lodged before take off, an Official Observer, and a claim submitted through your national aero club. The site helps with the first part: the planner can generate the declaration PDF. See The XC planner.
