What a league is#

Where XC Leagues

A league is a season table. Your best flights of the season count, scored by type, and every public flight can improve your rank. Where a challenge asks you to reach a goal, a league simply asks you to fly better than the pilot above you.

The page shows the standings, how many flights count, the scoring in use, and your own standing with the flights currently counting for you.

How a league scores#

Best N flights count
How many of your flights are summed. Only your N best count, so one bad weekend costs nothing. Set by the league. Six is the common default.
Points per km
The factor for each flight type. A league can weight flat and FAI triangles more heavily, or flatten them all to one. Stated on the league page. Read it before you plan your season around triangles.
Minimum flight distance (km)
Flights shorter than this do not count at all. Keeps a league about cross country rather than about sled rides.
Season
The period the league runs for. Usually a calendar year. Past seasons stay readable.

Global, country and club leagues#

Scope Who can join
Global league Any pilot.
Country league Only pilots flying for that country, taken from the country on their pilot profile.
Club league Only members of the club behind it.

Caution

Set your country on your pilot profile before trying to join a country league. Without it the league cannot tell whether you qualify.

Joining and leaving#

Join league puts you on the ladder. Your best flights of the season start counting, and until you have flown one the board shows You are on the board. Fly a counting flight to take your rank.

Like challenges, a league can require the organizer to approve new members. Then you send a request with an optional message and wait.

Leave league removes you from the standings at any time.

Creating a league or a club#

Creating clubs and leagues requires a SkyTrackPro membership, because a league is a long lived thing that other pilots come to rely on.

  1. Press Create league.
  2. Name it, choose the scope, and pick the country if it is a country league.
  3. Set the season window.
  4. Set the scoring: points per kilometer per flight type, Best N flights and the minimum flight distance.
  5. Decide whether pilots need approval to join.
  6. Save. Pilots can find and join it from the leagues page.

Tip

Publish the scoring rules in the league description as well. Pilots plan their season around the factors, and a rule that changes mid season is worse than a rule nobody likes.
