What lands in the feed#

Where XC Feed

The feed is the social side of the XC section: every flight, record and finish from the pilots you follow, in order.

Entry Appears when
A flight A pilot you follow publishes a cross country flight.
A record One of them sets a new record on any board.
A challenge finish One of them completes a challenge.
A shared route One of them publishes a route from the planner.
Flying live now One of them is airborne with live tracking on, with a link to watch.

Note

Short flights are filtered out. Only flights above a minimum distance, 15 km by default, reach the feed, so a day of sled rides does not bury the good stuff.

Following pilots#

Follow on any pilot adds them to your feed. Unfollow removes them again. There is no approval step and no notification to them: following is public information, not a friendship request.

The same follow list drives the live map, so following a pilot here also makes them easy to find while they are flying. Manage the whole list from Live Tracking on your dashboard, described in Live tracking.

An empty feed says Nothing here yet. Follow pilots to see their flights, records and challenge results. That is the only thing that fixes it.

Watching live from the feed#

A pilot who is airborne right now appears at the top of the feed with Watch live next to their name, which opens the live map centered on them. It is the fastest route from "is anyone flying" to actually watching them.
