1What the website does

The map of the whole platform: what lives on the website, what lives in the app, and which parts you can use without an account.

One platform, two front doors#

SkyTrackPro is a phone app and a website that share one account and one database of flights. The app is the instrument: it records your flight, shows you your vario, your airspace and your task in the air. The website is everything around the flight: the logbook, the maps you can zoom into afterwards, the leagues and the challenges, the task and waypoint planning, and the entire competition machinery from registration to official results.

You do not need the app to use the website. A pilot who flies with any instrument that produces an IGC file can upload here and take part in everything the site offers. The app just removes the manual step: it uploads the flight itself when you land.

The app does
Recording, vario, live airspace and obstacle warnings, the in flight task view, sending your live position.
The website does
The flight log and its maps, XC scoring, task and waypoint editing, club pages, competition management, scoring, the forum and classifieds.
Both do
Live tracking. The app sends, the website shows, and a competition organizer can watch either.

What you can do without an account#

A large part of the site is public. You can browse it, link to it, and send it to a friend who has never heard of SkyTrackPro.

  • The public flight feed at /flights, and every flight a pilot has published.
  • Pilot rankings at /rankings and any pilot's public flight profile.
  • The takeoff map at /takeoffs and the flight hub of a single site.
  • Published tasks at /tasks, and the full task view with its map and turnpoints.
  • The live map at /livetracking, showing every pilot who is currently broadcasting.
  • The XC hub, planner, challenges, leagues, records and feed.
  • The competition list and every public competition page: information, news, weather, tasks, pilots and results.
  • The forum and the classified ads, in read only mode.

Note

Publishing is always the pilot's decision. A flight is only visible in a public feed if its owner set it to public, and a competition only appears in the list once the organizer makes it public.

What an account adds#

An account is free and takes a minute. It gives you a dashboard, and the dashboard is where everything you own lives: your flights, your tasks, your waypoints, your clubs, your competition registrations.

  • Upload flights and build a logbook that follows you from year to year.
  • Fill in a pilot profile that appears next to every flight you publish.
  • Follow other pilots and watch them on the live map.
  • Join XC challenges and leagues, and appear on the record boards.
  • Register for competitions and carry your pilot QR identity.
  • Post in the forum and place classified ads.

Caution

A free account can upload 12 flights per year. Everything else on the list above is unlimited. Paid memberships raise the upload limit and unlock the planning and organizing tools, and are described in Memberships.

The site is built from modules. You do not need to know which is which to use it, but the names appear in menus and in this manual, so here they are.

How to read this manual#

Labels that appear on the site are written like this. Values are written like 400 m. Addresses and file names are written like /livetracking. A path through the interface is shown as a Where line:

Every chapter carries an access badge under its title. It is the quickest way to tell whether a chapter is about something you can already do.

Badge Means
Open to everyone No account needed. Anyone with the link can see it.
Sign in required You need an account, and some sections need a paid membership.
Organizer tools You need to be staff on a competition, or manage the organization behind it.
Scorer tools You need scoring rights on a competition.
Mixed, see chapter Parts are public and parts are not. The chapter says which is which.
