Uploading a flight with photos, publishing to XContest, and building a share image of your flight.

Uploading a flight#

Uploading exports the flight as IGC and sends it to your online logbook, described as Export your local SkyTrackPro flight as IGC and upload it to the cloud. It is always your choice, and nothing is uploaded automatically.

  1. In the Logbook, open the flight and choose Upload to SkyTrackPro.
  2. Enter a Title. It is required. The hint suggests something like 2025-04-03 Flight.
  3. Add a Comment if you want.
  4. Decide whether to turn on Public flight.
  5. Attach photos if you have them.
  6. Upload. The app confirms with Flight uploaded to SkyTrackPro.

Public flight
On or off Default: Off
Makes the flight visible to others. You can change the visibility later on the website. Turn it on for flights you want in the community feed or in a league. Leave it off for everyday flights.
Photos
Up to 10
Images attached to the flight. Photos taken during the flight are marked Tagged during flight. Attach the ones that show the day, not all of them. Ten is the limit and the app tells you when you hit it.

Caution

Uploading needs a connection. Offline the app says so plainly rather than queuing: You are offline. Flights can only be uploaded to skytrackpro.app when you have an internet connection.

Validity warnings#

Before uploading, the app sanity checks the track and may show Please check this flight before uploading. These are not errors, they are the app noticing something that usually means a mistake.

Warning Usually means
The altitude barely changes along this track. It looks like ground transport rather than a flight. You recorded a drive or a walk.
The recording already starts at flying speed. It looks like tracking began in the air instead of at the launch. You pressed start after launching, or imported a partial track.
The track gains altitude steadily over a long stretch without any circling. It looks like ground transport rather than a flight. You recorded a lift, a cable car or a drive up the hill.

If you know the flight is genuine, press Upload anyway.

Note

Benchmark flights created by the built in simulator cannot be uploaded at all, since they contain simulated data.

Publishing to XContest#

The app can submit a flight to XContest immediately after it is uploaded, described as Submit this flight to XContest after it is uploaded.

  1. Open the Logbook actions menu and choose XContest login.
  2. Enter your XContest username and password and connect.
  3. When uploading a flight, turn on Also publish to XContest. The sheet then reads Publishing as <username> on XContest.
  4. The app confirms with Flight submitted to XContest.

Note

If the account is not connected, the app tells you where to fix it: Connect your XContest account in Settings, under Account, to publish flights here. A flight that is already there reports This flight is already on XContest.

Caution

If a submission fails, the flight is still uploaded to SkyTrackPro. You can retry from the website later, which is exactly what the app suggests.

The share image#

Share your flight builds a picture of your flight to post anywhere. The subtitle is Pick a format and a style, then share it anywhere.

Format
Story, Post, Square or Wide. Pick the shape for where you are posting it.
Style
Flight Deck, Map, Golden Hour, Daylight, Night Flight or Transparent.
Layout
Classic, Big Number, Panorama, Split, Minimal, Poster, Ticket or Gauge.
Task
Show task or Hide task, for whether the task geometry appears on the card.
  1. Open the flight and choose Share flight.
  2. Pick a format, a style and a layout.
  3. For a map based style, press Change map view, frame the map, and tap the check mark. The hint reads Frame the map, then tap the check mark to use it as the card background.
  4. Use Copy caption if you want the generated text too.
  5. Share the image.

Caution

The map preview in the share sheet is the one map in the app that always needs a connection. It loads its style from the server rather than from the bundled offline style, so a share card with a map background cannot be built with no signal.

Tip

Big Number with a single distance reads well on a phone screen. Ticket and Poster carry more detail and suit a wider format.
