The logbook#

Every flight you record lands here, on the phone, with no upload required. The logbook works completely offline.

Logbook summary totals your flying across a selectable range: Last 10 flights, Last 50 flights or All flights.

Flights
How many flights are in the range.
Time in air
Total airborne time.
Track length
Total distance flown along the track.
Avg speed
Average speed across the range.
Total climb
Total height gained.
Range
The dates covered.

The list can be sorted Newest first or Oldest first. Each row shows the takeoff name once it has been resolved, with the country flag, the distance and the duration. A green cloud mark means the flight has been uploaded, and a flight still running is marked IN PROGRESS.

What you can do with a flight#

Upload to SkyTrackPro
Sends the flight to your online logbook. See Uploading and sharing flights.
Export IGC
Writes the standard IGC file to a folder you choose, or shares it directly.
Open on skytrackpro.app
Opens the uploaded flight in a browser.
Resolve takeoff
Looks up the name of the launch site you flew from.
Reset upload state
Marks the flight as not uploaded so you can upload it again.
Delete
Removes the flight and all its track points from this device.

Note

Reset upload state exists for one specific case, which the app spells out: you deleted the flight on the website and want to upload it again.

Caution

Takeoff names are looked up on the server. Offline the app leaves it unresolved and tries again later, or tells you No matching takeoff found for this flight.

The flight detail page#

Opening a flight gives you Flight #123 with the map, the statistics and the replay button.

Tip

Thermal time against glide time is the most instructive pair of numbers here. A day where you spent more time circling than gliding usually means you stopped for climbs you did not need.

Replaying a flight#

Replay flight plays your track back on the map, with the same tiles and instruments you flew with. It is the closest thing to flying the day again, and it is the fastest way to understand a decision you regret.

  1. Open a flight and press Replay.
  2. Use the controls to play, pause and change speed.
  3. Drag the scrubber to jump to a moment.
  4. The altitude graph shows the shape of the flight, with Points and Flight time alongside.

Note

Replay is fully local. It works on a plane, on a train and on a hill with no signal, though the map itself needs either a connection or a downloaded region.

Tip

Replay a flight with the thermal maps overlay on. Seeing where the historical lift was against where you actually climbed teaches a site quickly.

IGC import and export#

IGC is the standard flight track format. The app both reads and writes it, so your flights are never locked in.

Where Logbook › Logbook actions
Import IGC
Brings a track from another instrument or another app into your logbook. Confirmed with Imported IGC as flight #12 (3421 points).
Export all IGC
Writes every flight to a folder you choose, then reports Exported, Skipped and Failed counts.
Export IGC
Exports a single flight from its row.

Caution

A flight needs at least two track points to export, and an imported IGC needs enough unique fixes to be usable. The app refuses clearly rather than producing a broken file.

Note

Duplicate imports are detected. If the flight is already there, the app says Flight already exists (#12, ...) rather than making a second copy.

Tip

Export all IGC once a season into a folder you back up. It is the simplest insurance against losing a phone.

Deleting flights#

  1. To delete one flight, swipe it left and confirm.
  2. To delete everything, use Delete all flights in the logbook actions menu.
  3. The app asks twice. The second dialog is Final confirmation with This action cannot be undone.

Important

Deleting removes the flight and all its track points from the device. If the flight was never uploaded or exported, it is gone. Export first.

Note

You cannot delete everything while a flight is running. The app tells you to end the active flight first.
