What the app stores on the phone, what it sends to the servers, who can see it, and how to delete it.

What stays on the phone#

Most of what the app holds never leaves your device unless you choose to send it.

  • Your recorded flights and every track point in them
  • Photos taken in flight, until you attach them to an upload
  • Local tasks and waypoint lists
  • Screen layouts and all settings
  • Downloaded map regions, airspace files and obstacle files
  • Your sign in token, held in the device keychain or keystore
  • Diagnostic logs, when debug mode is on

Good to know

Recording a flight sends nothing anywhere. If you never upload and never enable live tracking, your flights exist only on your phone.

Note

Some background lookups also talk to the server while you have a connection, for example resolving a takeoff name, fetching terrain heights outside a downloaded region, and loading weather stations.

Who can see your flights#

An uploaded flight
Private by default. It becomes visible to others only if you turn on Public flight, and you can change that later on the website.
Your live position
Visible to the people who follow you, to the group you have selected, and to competition organizers when you are flying their event.
Your profile
Your name, nickname, country, flying style and designs appear where you appear: leaderboards, feeds and live maps.
PureTrack
A separate service with its own visibility rules. Publishing there is entirely opt in.

Caution

Always active live tracking publishes your position when you are not flying. It is genuinely useful for retrieve drivers and hike and fly, and it is also the setting most worth being deliberate about.

Deleting your data#

Important

Account deletion cannot be undone. Export your flights with Export all IGC first, described in Logbook and replay.

Note

Deleting the account removes the server side data. It does not remove flights and settings already stored on your phone, which the app tells you at the time.

Tip

You can grant only location and still fly completely. Every other permission is asked for when you first use the feature that needs it.
