11App settings
Everything you can change about the app itself, which is deliberately very little: the language, the theme, and where you are signed in.
There is no settings screen#
The app has no preferences page. Everything you can change sits in the menu on the QR Scan tab, and there are only two real options. Everything else about the app is decided by the competition setup on the website.
The same menu holds Help and manual, which opens this manual in your browser, in whichever language the app is set to. It is also on the sign in screen, so it works before you have an account that gets you anywhere.
Language#
Language opens a list with System default at the top, followed by every language the app is translated into: English, Deutsch, Espanol, Francais, Italiano, Portugues and Portugues (Brasil).
System default follows the phone's language, which is what most people want. Choosing a language explicitly overrides that, and the choice is remembered on this phone until you change it again. The change is immediate, with no restart.
Note
The language changes the app's own text. Competition data keeps the names the organizer gave it, so category chips, task names and pilot names do not translate.
Theme#
Theme offers System default, Light and Dark. It applies to the whole app immediately and is remembered.
Note
The map style toggle on the Live Tracking tab is separate from the app theme. You can run a light app with a dark map, or the other way around.
Who is signed in#
The top of the menu names the account this phone is signed in as. The session survives restarts, so an app you find already open says nothing about whose it is; the menu does.
Signed in as gives the name the account is registered under, with its email underneath. An account the server holds no name for shows the email alone. This is the name that matters, because the server records every scan against the account that uploaded it.
Tip
Check it before the first scan of a shift on a shared phone. If it still names yesterday's account, use Logout and sign in as yourself. See Session and logout.
Session and logout#
Logout ends the session on this phone, stops position sharing, clears the live state and returns you to the sign in screen.
Before any of that, it makes sure the queue is empty. If scans are still waiting, Scans not uploaded lists them and Upload now sends them; the sign out follows by itself once they are in. There is no way around it, because the server records a scan against whoever uploaded it, and a queue left on the phone would go up under the next person to sign in.
Signing out also clears this phone's cached pilot list, the pilot photos and the local scan history. That data belongs to the session that fetched it, and a supporter phone gets handed on. Signing in again downloads it fresh.
Note
Scans the server refused do not hold up a sign out. They have already been answered, and no later session can get them in either. See Failed scans.
